The City of Lipa (Filipino: Lungsod ng Lipa) is a first class city in the province of Batangas, Philippines. It is one of the three component cities of Batangas province (the others being Batangas City and the City of Tanauan). It is situated 78 kilometers south of Manila. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 218,447 people in 41,962 households.
The City is known as Rome of the Philippines because of its various convents, seminaries, churches and religious houses. Among the well-known churches are San Sebastian Cathedral, Mt. Carmel and Divina Amor Redemptorist. The city is elevated at 1,025 ft above sea level making its weather cooler than the average Philippine temperature.
It has 4 malls such as Robinsons' Place, SM City, Fiesta World Mall, and Big Ben. It is known as well with its world-class golf courses such as Mt. Malarayat and Summit Point. Other recreations and places to visit in Lipa are San Benito Farm and Spa (voted as Asia's Best Spa), Blue Roze Farms, La Finca, Casa De Segunda, El Madero, Globe Platinum Park, Marian Orchard, Lipa Community Park and Plaza Independencia. The City is also the home of Nestle Philippines, PKI (Japanese car accessories), Lima Techonology Park, San Miguel Farms, Teletech and ACS Call Centers
